My new Mercury 9.9 EFI just arrived and as soon as the muffs arrive from Amazon today I'll be firing it up for the first time. There isn't an overabundance of info in the factory manual so videos on YouTube like yours helps somewhat. Note to new owners: don't dump the entire factory supplied bottle of oil into the crankcase! The 9.9 only needs 27 ounces and the bottle holds 35. In this video it looks like the lady drained the bottle of oil into the motor which if she exceeded the factory specified amount could damage the motor. It's been many years since I've owned a boat with a tiller controlled outboard so there'll probably be a learning curve at first.

One thing I noticed is the young lady shifting into reverse, without the engine running - and I've read that's a no-no.... and another thing - it appeared the entire oil container was poured in, which would overfill - another no-no

Disappointed! Nothing about fluids to be added to a new Outboard shipped. Where's the oil to go? How much? Grease? Anything for the lower unit? Thanks for trying, but minimal info...

Are you able to do a flush on these engines with a garden hose if you are running it in Salt water lots? Thanks in advance

I've got a 1987 mercury 9.9, thing is a beast but Flys through fuel. I love it though, gets my 1436 scootin

New owner, I start the motor cold with the choke out / open. After the motor is on in Neutral, after letting the motor warm up, I close the choke and the motor cuts off. I read that I should not run the motor out in the motor with the choke out. I can’t find the manual downloadable online. What am I doing wrong? Am I using the choke incorrectly or do I need to look at the fuel pump? Motor dies after I close the choke. Any thoughts? Appreciate the help!

Mike, I like to see you try a NEW SUZUKI DF25 on your Alumacraft and compare to Yamaha and Mercury

So straight up...can you give me an approximate number of hose length and sizes needed for a #3 livewell system? If you could it would be appreciated. I know it matters where you put it but mine would be in the front and I really don't care where the controls are. It's only 14' I'll make it work. They aren't very specific about detailing the pipe sizes need. Don't know why they couldn't label them for you on a diagram. Seems pretty fundamental to the process to me.

I have the 2021 df15ael3 Suzuki it is fuel injected and to make it a 20 horsepower all you have to do is change the restrictor-plate and the ECM.. I think all of them are made by Tohatsu up to 20 horsepower

Is the prop supposed to free spin? I just purchased the 2023 propeller and it doesn't free spin. I'm nervous to go out only to find out I'm missing something

I have the same motor what gas do you recommend using? Just regular gas?

Nice video...fyi- all fuel hoses should be US Coast Guard rated A1-15. It is the most stringent standard for leakage, fire permeability, and resistant to ethanol. The ethanol issue is real, most trailerable boats usually fill on land and not with marine fuel. Have fun. Be safe!

efi is nice but it adds to the expense and is not user serviceable.
