The Anabasis is an incredibly moving text. Far more than the Cyropaedia. I adore the moment when (far after the battle at Cunaxa) the surviving Ten Thousand mercenaries reach the sea and exclaim: "Thalassa! Thalassa!" I'm no Greek but I've wept over the page.

Wow, just logged on and say that you posted several things today. All great but this is my favorite of the bunch... I can just visualize Xenophon and Cyrus the Younger surveying Artaxerxes II's army as they prepare to engage each other. Takes me to another place in time...

I am currently reading Xenophon's Anabasis and I just discovered this song of yours, it seems that I have missed it. I'm now obsessed with it. haha May I ask what is the woman singing?

Hey Farya, what is the style of singing the woman is doing in this one? It sounds so incredible, and I've definitely heard it before. I believe in Medieval II Total War: Kingdoms in the Crusades campaign I've heard some music with this style of singing.
