G'day Fred... Yay Team..! A Triangle is the ultimate structural unit (short of Perforated Monocoque). A Perfect Frame, the Geometry of which can't be deformed, except by catastrophic failure. Squares & Rectangles Are Imperfect Frames, easily deformable into Paralellograms ; adding double Diagonal Braces makes them into a Redundant Frame, as any member's removal still leaves the structure a Perfect Frame.... Due to multiple load-paths. Ciao !

Near the end of the video, I could not erase the obvious metaphor of a torpedo from my thinking, and the words torpedo/anger were difficult for me to ignore....

G'day, what quaint tastes you do have, a Paralellogram in Java ; why not drawn in Arabica, if Beans be the means ? You'll need to plight the Tension-Strength of Diagonal Bracing Wires, in marraige to the Reciprocal Compression-Strength of your Struts... Surely ? Otherwise the structure has no internal coherance. Triangles are fundamental, to making Paralellograms, Rectangles & Squares stay in shape...

Among some of our male primate relatives aggression and dominance are expressed by behavior that mimics sexual mounting. So is the correspondence in metaphor between human male sexuality and sexual aggression due to sharing a metaphor, or the sharing of the metaphor due to their behavioral correspondence?

I think the metaphor "pressure" is no more responsible for sexual aggression than the metaphor "explosion" is responsible for men blowing themselves up after they orgasm.

I believe asked you this before but don't recall an answer. In your analysis of the metaphorical basis of most language, are there any dead metaphors? Do any metaphors become (devolve into) denotative terms. I mean, I really have a hard time believing that when people use "understand, " they compute "as if standing under...."

If you can't see things in terms of other things-which we can cause empathy- I suggest that's autistic and men are definitely more autistic, and literal, than women. [Only got a 'Y', you see, no extra 'X'. Frustration!] Alan Ayckbourn's plays are often premised on such dichotomies!! Don't get much culture in Cornwall, do you, Fred?
