Why is this DEWCLAW GROWING SIDEWAYS???

Today’s video we treat a cow with a dew claw growing in an abnormal fashion.

Nate, you are the only hoof guy I watch that doesn’t cause more damage. It seems to me the others don’t care if they cut live tissue or not. It’s a bloody mess when they are finished. I realize it doesn’t take much to cause them to bleed, but I never see a cows hoof look mangled after you’re done with them. I could be wrong, but that’s what I see.

This is the first time I'm seeing a dewclaw treatment. Very cool! I'm also curious about the copper sulfate when we so often see salicylic acid. Does it have to do with the location of the dermatitis or what's causing it?

I do believe I have never seen a dewclaw have to be managed. It's one of those things that only seem to bring trouble.

Haven't seen too many videos with dewclaw problems, it's mostly just trimming them down to size.

We see so few dew claw trims that i wondered if the hole in the middle was meant to be there - but no it was not! Very satisfying trim and wrap 😊

I never knew anything about a dewclaw. That was so interesting and informative. You are so gentle and precise in your trimming and care of the animal. Great job Nate, the way it wobbled I thought it was just a lump of fatty tissue!! 🤷‍♀️
