Leap Year Triplets Celebrate Their ‘5th’ Birthday

Although these South Carolina triplets do not look like they are in kindergarten, the calendar says they're turning 5 years old. Harris, Elizabeth and Andrew Rowe were born on a leap year in 2004, so technically their birthday comes only once every four years, on Feb. 29th. Out of eight billion people on Earth, only five million share a leap day birthday. They are known as leaplings. Inside Edition’s Ann Mercogliano has more.

For those confused why Leap Years exist, pretty much a year is technically 365.25 days instead of just 365, so they have to add an extra day every 4 years to keep the seasons from shifting.

This actually makes me feel sorry for people born on February 29th as their actual birthday only comes once every 4 years I hope they still celebrate their birthday on the 28th of February or the first of March during non leap years.
