Print on any surface with the Original Prusa MK4!

Did you know the loadcell sensor on the Original Prusa MK4 3D printer works with any hard, flat surface, not just metal? It is by far the best solution to achieve the perfect first layer. With this sensor, the printer gently touches the surface to find out the exact height and creates a virtual height map. We tried its function on several materials and it was fun. And crazy!

The poor Y axis motor that has to move an entire brick

This is why people actually still love prusa even despite new markets. What a fun company. They deserve respect regardless.

Tattoo's. Prusa Tattoo's. It might burn a bit at first.

This is really cool! I would add though the option to calibrate the surface even without filament. Some filaments are extremly difficult to remove on some surfaces ( i.e. flex filament on textile). If the nozzle is dirty or there are slight particles it can leave filament on the surface while z-probing.

A clean - optional approach for prisitne prints would be:
1. Remove filament
2. If necessary - Nozzle is cleaned manually by the user
3. Z-probe Calibrates the surface without filament
4. After the surface is calirated, the printer asks for hte filament to be loaded.

The PS4 is clearly rotating during the dead pool bust print yet the print looks perfect? Some trickery going on here.

I love all 4 of my Prusa machines very much. Started printing two years ago and Prusa was my first choice 💯

Absolutly mind blowing. Love you Prusa Team !

Can you use curved surfaces? Like the side of the PS5? Mesh bed levelling compensates for a certain amount of non-flatness, but how far does it go?

This is a good idea actually. Im sure im gonna find something to print on now

ok.. I need it to print on my thesis the model of my architural thesis. Thnaks!

Bring back crash detection please! The reliability of my MK4 is nowhere near what my MK3 was. Sure, the load cell is amazing, but not having crash detection makes large models a liability to print.

Just make sure that you dont set the toolhead to move up at the end of the print because the surface is the zero position and it will potentially crash into the top of the frame if the surface is too close to the build height limit.

Use a piece of PCB and use the filament as an etching mask?

Please provide a 3.5 to 3.9 upgrade kit!!!

3.5 got me excited and now I wanna upgraded even further because it’s been so impressive but I can’t.

I’ve tried it myself, but you don’t sell the wire harness, you don’t sell the motor, brass ring, pads and a bunch of other things. Not to mention when i add it all up separately it gets $$$$

You sell the mk4 spare parts hit but that still doesn’t have all the parts to complete the nextruder. But at least to save about $15 off the individual parts price.

At the minimum at least get the brass ring and the wire harness and the other unavailable items up in the shop so people can piece it all together themselves.

As a bonus, it would be nice to have it all on one page so people can just do it big add dart blast and add all the individual parts including screws.

And please price it competitively. As it occurs now, I can go out and get a top notch, extruder and hot end for about 150 bucks to 200.

Wouldn't the nozzle melt some surfaces while calibration (since the nozzle is at 170c)?

When you load the filament, it does a purge. This is the time to clean the nozzle. Prusa please do a retract after the purge, so the filament doesn’t ooze out while you’re cleaning the nozzle, and after leaving a bit hanging there during bed levelling!

I've been wanting to try printing on PCBs as an acid or photo resist! Is there an easy way to limit the print and probing area for smaller sheets of material?

Can you tell us more about that thing that looks like a camera with 2 lenses on the X axis ? What did I missed. ?

I tried a few things to print on but always get stopped by the nozzle cleaning cycle! with the steal sheets i dont have this problem. can i somehow deactivate it!?

What's the point of printing on different materials with little or no adhesion?
