4MP WGCC / Globin PTZ Speed Dome with 18X Zoom - Unboxing, Setup & Review

The camera is now branded as WGCC and today is an awesome day! I am super excited to be unboxing and setting up this professional grade security camera. I review the specs of this 4MP PTZ Speed dome. It has 18X optical zoom, supports ONVIF, uses H.265 compression and if flippin huge! This camera does not support PoE as it's requires too much electricity to operate. It comes with a power adapter but I use an extension cord as I may not have a power outlet near my installation point. I temporarily install the camera in a couple of locations to test its features.

Bought a commercial grade Pelco 32x PTZ from Ebay about 10 years ago - the kind they use at airports and military bases etc. That thing had incredible clear zoom and ability to heat itself in freezing weather. Still have it but don't know how to connect and control it on my newer Hikvision NVR camera network as its coax analog video out and I was using it via a video capture card in a PC and an rs432 board (I think) for PTZ control. Would love to use it again.

I bought several Amcrest PTZ small cams and they were okay for short distances, but once I bought a Amcrest PTZ 25 X optical cam (IP2M-858W) I almost regret buying the smaller ones. I also look forward to the day they make 50+ X optical cams. It's not that they can see farther, but even at short distances you can see really small things.

Have you ever looked into or consider ePTZ 360 fisheye dome cameras? These cameras allow a unique hemispheric effect that can be de-warped with various intelligent software.

Can you recommend any quality app (apple) that is compatible with this camera?
With quality I mean: fast loading (i.e. quickly provide live footage), responsive and maybe also intuitive (e.g. pinch to zoom, swipe to pan/tilt) and work preferably fullscreen (with, if not intuitive, semi transparent controls on top of the live view instead of seperate dedicated controls taking up precious screenspace leaving only a small rectangle on the upper part of the screen for the camera view)

I don't see that you ever did the audio setup. I just ordered one from amazon. Are you going to do anymore videos about it ? I need at least 1 way audio or I guess its going back after it gets here

A couple questions from this upcoming security camera neophyte that is building a home and installing security cameras. Not so much for security but more for hobby. Can you operate the PTZ functions from your NVR? What would be a good NVR fit for this camera. I plan on using an 8 channel NVR with enough processing power to handle the 4 K cameras. HIKVISION model? Or other manufacture model would be ok? Can you take a single photograph shot, example 'bird" and then save the to a file as a jpeg? Also take short say 5 second movie and save the movie file for later view on your personal compute? Sorry for all the questions but IM desperate for some easy answers. the PTZ camera should install roof top and the waterproof cable management shoud inside the steel direct plugin to the Power over Ethernet Switch

if the dome have shield protection for anti break and wireless AC connection (high db) with self backup battery (15-30 mints is enough )

We would see the advance function likes P2p, Simple network management protocol and DDNS (Dynamic network name system) setting

I went with a hikvision dome 4MP based off of your videos and love it.  Any reason in particular why you switched to this brand?  I know this is a PTZ type.

Good information... This lens is not wide enough to view my entire driveway, and the camera can't mount any higher.. Can the lens be changed on this camera? or put a fisheye glass on top of the lens.

Does the zoom work well when it’s recorded footage aswell and not just the live? Will it still be good resolution??

Does the paper manual list the RTSP url parameters that will control the PTZ functions? If not, where are they available, please? What wattage is required by the PoE so that I can select the proper injector, and which standard; PoE 802.3af or 802.3at, please?

I'm a do it yourselfer myself and having a house built. Shortly I will be running CAT5 E cables for a security camera system. If you would be so kind to offer some free advice, what would be an average to low cost NVR to pair up with this camera and other mixed brand cameras?

I follow a forum where they mostly tout Dahua or Hickvision as reliable & somewhat affordable models. I have not heard of Globin. Do you take this or other cameras apart to identify the chip and parts manufacturers? The Amazon store does not have a lot of specifications. I did notice they post a link to your video for this camera. Hopefully since they are using your review you got the camera from them for free.

Hi I bought this camera and did not use the software that came with the camera. I have Hikvision 7716 NVR. I used the HV software and It found the camera with a name of HK-ipcam using port 8000. Is this a Hikvision clone firmware if so can it be upgraded to have Face detection though the NVR or Intrusion detection? That said is there new firmware that can be added used the software that came with camera. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I saw that question below about PoE+. This camera's spec says 25W and PoE+ provides 30W per port, I was also wondering if it would work on a PoE+ or it is wired only for an external power connection?
