The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul is a 1988 humorous fantasy detective novel by Douglas Adams. It is the second book by Adams featuring private detective Dirk Gently, the first being Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Adams had intended to follow it with a third such novel, The Salmon of Doubt, but he died before completing it; an unfinished draft is included in a posthumously published collection of the same name.

The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul has been adapted for radio, and several plot lines appear in the 2010 BBC TV series.

I do not own the rights of any of this. Since the original audiobooks are unavailable to purchase online, this is the only alternative that exists. Arrr

Personal note:
I fell in love with these audiobooks after having watched the movie. The way the author reads is calming, passionate, and expressive. I listen to them before bed to ease myself into a nice sleep. Highly recommend!

I’m so pleased to have stumbled across this! You, fellow Adams-enjoyer, are doing the gods’ work. (Surely Thor’s at the very least.)
It’s amazing that The Algorithm promotes content like this to me, while its conglomo-brother algos are intent on rooting it out for removal, but i shan’t complain.
I think that _Teatime_ may actually be my favorite of Adams’ books, though it’s foolish to try and quantify such a thing. It was my introduction to Dirk Gently, and i devoured it in a day, ADHD be damned. Dirk’s standoff with his cleaner is reason enough to praise the book.
Finding the audiobook now—in the author’s own mellifluous voice!—allows me to experience its delights again, even though my brain no longer allows me books without a fight.
Thanks!

I don't know how the Almighty Algorithm decided this was exactly what I needed today but I deeply appreciate it.
