This lecture belongs to the field of Fractional Calculus. In this video, I have derived an important algorithm used in the field of fractional calculus known as the L1 method to approximate the Caputo derivative of a function. The viewers will come to know:
1. What is Caputo derivative?
2. The derivation of the L1 method to approximate the Caputo derivative.
3. MATLAB code of the L1 method to find Caputo derivative of a trigonometric function.
4. To analyze the absolute errors for the L1 method.
5. To carry out a comparative analysis with respect to the absolute errors.

Prof Sania, I have one question.

If I want to compute derivative at x=0. it cannot evaluate since it at the point of singularity. Is it possible to take value close to 0 such as 10^-3, to approximate the derivative at x=0 using the formula?
