In New Jersey I used a Stratic 2500 with 20lb braid and a Daiwa Harrier 64MS. The major factor is the fish themselves. on the first day I used this combo, I limited out in 20 to be fair, I didn't catch fish, I was mugged by the fluke. For the surf I used a ODM 6.8 foot rod with a VanStaal VR 50.... I was getting shorts on every cast. A passerby on the beach tried to start up a conversation and I told him to pick up my St Crox 6ft inshore with my Pen Slammer III with 30 lb he pulled in a few shorts was at Island Beach State Park. I visited OBX back in 2012-13 and we hired a surf fishing guide through Jenettes Pier. One lady in the group caught a flounder. I would love to go down for a and I wish I saw this video three years ago. Would have saved me some trial and

Daiwa all day. I use an SS1600 Tournament with a 7ft medium/heavy Ugly Stik Inshore Select, 30lb braid with a 30lb fluoro leader - high/low rig. Handles Fluke (as we like to call them Summer Flounder up here in the Northeast) or any other bay fish so well. Daiwa's will last nearly a lifetime if you take care of them.
