56: Export of Biofuels from Special Economic Zones and Export-Oriented Units | ANALOG IAS ACADEMY

Recently the Union Government stated that the Exports of biofuels from Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Export Oriented Units (EOUs) will be permitted without any restrictions only if the biofuel is produced by using imported feedstock.

What are Biofuels?
Biofuel is a hydrocarbon fuel that is produced from organic matter which may be living or once-living material in a short period of time.
Unlike fossil fuels which take a long time, Biofuel can be produced in a very short period.
Biofuels can be of Three types as
● Solid Biofuels like wood, dried plant material, and manure
● Liquid biofuels like Bioethanol and Biodiesel
● Gaseous biofuels like Biogas.
