I decided to play this song waiting for my mom. It was her favorite song, and it still is one of her favorites. It made me forget about the troubles of teenage years, all the drama and phones, and I just sat there, overlooking the cycle of life according to tradition. Do good in high school > grow up > get a good job > get married > have family > watch kids grow up and look at the backyard you used to play in > grow old > retire > die. And it makes me happy that life isn’t all boring, and this mostly likely won’t be my reality. But most of all- I realized; you only get one childhood. There’s so much more than just marriage. Life is short, and you have to make it sweet.

This song really hits hard for me. My entire family is settled in Maryland, and so my mom got the hell out of there and now we're here. Michigan. In this family, if you're different, you're not a part of the family. We were different. We were outcasts. They still care, we're just aliens to them. We all lived the same lives - middle or working class, get married, have a lot of kids, take care of the kids, die. And so we were all doomed to that life until my mom moved to Michigan. She got up off that merry go round.
And now, realizing this all, I don't think I'll ever go back. I can't go back to what my mom left for.
