Specialists of the American edition of The Drive were impressed by the Drozd amphibian presented, developed by the Baltic Engineering Company.
Amphibian "Drozd" is a combination of a speedboat and an off-road vehicle. On the water, it becomes a boat, and on land it turns into an all-wheel drive SUV. On the water, its characteristics do not deteriorate, and it can even swim with waves up to three points. Despite the fact that the increasing excitement only lowers the speed of movement.
The transition time from land to water modes is only 12 seconds. And no additional devices are required for this, which is important for mobile movement.
For exit into the water, a hydraulic system is provided that folds the wheels inside the arches. And when moving on water, there is a water cannon and a non-retractable reinforced keel.
According to the assurances of the developers, it is impossible to drown the amphibian, thanks to the hermetic hull and the use of modern seals and a self-draining system for use in emergency cases. And, not importantly, only domestic components were used in the design.
The amphibian is equipped with a shock-resistant Kevlar composite body and is a modular design that can operate at temperatures down to minus 50 degrees Celsius. That provided the necessary strength with a small mass.
As a result, the minimum weight of the amphibian is 2 tons, like that of conventional SUVs, but at the same time it allows you to carry 1.5 tons of payload. Which may be: medical or military equipment, various weapons, personnel or personnel.

At the same time, the water jet is designed to work in polluted waters, which eliminates its damage. And, to control all systems, the amphibian is equipped with modern electronics.
As conceived by the amphibian manufacturers, its use is possible both in military and civilian operation. Everything will depend on the purpose and purpose of use and, accordingly, the necessary equipment for equipping it. So, for example, in the passenger version it is possible to accommodate 10 people, a medical / sleeping place. In the military version, in addition, it is possible to install various weapons on the reinforced roof.
