its really nice to see the Warriors franchise seeming to FINALLY realize "oh hey these people dont want realistic cats" after literal years of the fandom making stylized cartoon and anime cats. like for so long they seemed to stick SO HARD to the at least semi-realism thing. even in the vinyls they seem really resistant to cut down on detail. the graphic novels and these plushes feel like theyre finally going "oh people REALLY like these lil guys"

i like how they're taking into account as many designs as they can for these characters, aside from like scourge ofc, cause that's pretty much set in stone aside from the collar. it adds uniqueness to each piece of merch they decide to experiment with. and oh my stars these new plushies are ADORABLE. desperately need a squirrelstar and a tigerstar right now

i actually sort of like the embroidered circle around firestar's muzzle! it doesn't really take anything away from the design for me. so so happy about these, im asking for them for christmas!

my hope is that they actually hired somebody that knows what sort of merch the fandom does. the disparity between the official merch and fan-made merch was huge, making all of the official merch look bad in comparison. i have never been interested in buying official merch because they don't look good, but now i'm reconsidering. those are cute plushies and, if they keep this up and actually listen to the fans' wants for merch, then they might actually find more people actually want to buy that merch.

This is the warrior cats merch I would actually get for once! I really hope the final plushies end up looking like these and not completely different and worse quality though

As someone who’s worked with getting artwork onto fluffy fabric, these are probably sublimated, which really means the sky’s the limit for markings!

I will say a big limitation of sublimation is that it can only be darker than the base cloth color, and I’m 99.9% sure that’s why Firestar’s muzzle is embroidered on, since it makes a lot more sense to embroider that on rather than have cream be the base and use a ton of (very expensive) ink making the whole thing orange. Think about it like drawing with markers on colored construction paper.

The good news for that is some cats like Brightheart and Ivypool will probably have white bases, so their scars can probably be printed on instead of embroidered.

Now see these are ones I actually want to buy!! The other cat plushies just reminded me too much of, like, the animal plushes you would find at National Parks. They're cute and "realistic" but ultimately didn't remind me of the characters at all. I'm so on board for this!

I’m wondering if they took inspiration from the fan created ones and saw how popular they were (eg DirtyNoodles plushies of which I have many). The big heads, chibi proportions, and overall cartoony look is very familiar.

My only worry is quality. We obv won't know till they release it- but with tiny plushies like these they're more prone to ripping if they're not quality controlled at all. But very happy and very excited!

edit: I just checked and they will be using Jayfrost's designs for the new plushies, which means we will likely see pale eyed, striped long haired Ashfur again! Also I'm curious how they will handle long haired cats since the of plushies didn't do a good job with Mapleshade
