Have a pair of CB 20’s I got from Best Buy a few years back, they were open box, for 120$ at the time, they are some really decent speakers, clean sounding, good mids, highs and bass response, totally enjoyable

I have a pair of these i picked up maybe ten years ago on closeout. They sounded pretty bad at first and required a lot of break in. I currently have them literally on a bookshelf…. I had to plug the rear port with poly fill to tone down bass resonance because of where i placed them. After that they sounded great. On stands like you are doing is obviously better. . They are very sensitive, crisp and decent punch. Easily driven with a small amp in small to medium room. These are a great find and cheap. I think they were designed before Klipsch bought them out and stayed in production for a while. Energy were still higher end back then. These definitely need time to sound better, and placement with rear ported speakers greatly affect sound.
Currently i am using them with a great little Aiyima T9 tube amp playing digital audio from my TV and Bluetooth sources. The tube section of the amp warms them up a bit. I am filling in lows with a 10” Martin Logan powered sub.
What were your impressions of the CB20s?

I just got these speakers today. I have them paired with some monster vintage Kenwood kl 7080's. I'm using the Sansui 5500. The CB 10's sound great. Should I have them in front of the Kenwood's or next to them?

If you don't mind me asking, what receiver are you using and are you using a dedicated amp to drive these?

I had a pair of Energy C50's recently. Similar looks, 1" dome tweeter but with a 4 inch woofer. They sucked. Running through a Pioneer Elite cd transport, a Yamaha A-700 integrated amp, the sound stage was awful. Very narrow. The high frequencies were not very detailed, and the overall sound was very flat and lifeless. I would suspect even these, with the slightly larger 6.5" woofer aren't much better. They look like the same garbage that rolled off the Chinese assembly line. Older Energy speakers made in Canada were much better sounding.

That music sucks it does nothing for the performance of the speakers at all.😊
