I rode my KLR 650 all over the USA on camping trips just like this years ago. (2006 - 2017) Then I broke both legs and shattered both feet, not motorcycle related, and had to give it up. Those were some good trips. Rode the Tail of the Dragon on 3 separate trips. My trusty KR has over 153, 000 miles on it now. I still ride it, just can't do long camping trips anymore on it.
Get yourself one of those 2 person 3 second tents and enjoy setting up camp a lot faster. I love mine.
