As a Lebaneae speaker, I understood some of the Aramaic language due to the Lebanese dialect of Arabic contaning a mix of Aramaic and Arabic languages. My second cousin speaks, reads, and writes Aramaic fluently. Also, a dialect of Aramaic, known as Galilean Aramaic, is spoken in the town(s) of Galilee in modern-day Israel/Palestine. From research, it is stated that Jesus spoke the Galilean dialect of Aramaic.

Le langage des Côtés égyptiens, a l’église, est l’araméen, tout comme le langage des catholiques est le latin, à l’église.
Je peux vous réciter des prières en latin…

Curiously no mention of the fact that Aramaic is also the parent of Arabic as well as Hebrew. But then again Christians have still not been told that the Holly Wars were over centuries ago!

This sounds a lot like an Arab tried to pray from a siddur in our synagogue service! :)) (a lot of Jewish prayers are still in Aramaic). That's so interesting to hear!

After hearing this, it makes me think: are European Jews pronouncing it in the correct 'old way' or changed it in time to an incorrect way? Haha this is so cool to compare :))

Beautiful language! Wonder why we all don't speak it today? We have so many languages yet we don't speak the one our Lord spoke.

Aramaic is a dialect/off shoot/branch of the Canaanite language. It is the ONLY Canaanite language that has survived naturally. Hebrew is also a same but it was recreated from the remains of the Liturgical language used in the First and perhaps the second temple of the Israelites that had not been destroyed over time and by specific actions of the Romans and others. The other language was Amorite and that completely vanished apparently.
