In the US the "sovereign citizen" movement has been around for a while, seems to be spreading to the UK. Unfortunately you can't really opt out of the social contract.

When it wasn't all run by businesses, privatised companies. Now, I am not so sure.
It used to be that if you happened to have something in your hand, for instance the proverbial glass, and used it in self defence then it was self defence. The test case was that a man picked up a glass and used it on another man. It was found he had used it as a weapon and not for self defence because it wasn't already in his hand.

Rules enforced with physical force always apply unless you are a bigger force and change who is in power.If a rule you must kill your first born or say for instance you can't leave your house .It's only a rule(law) if it's enforced by a controlling tyrant and you comply.

No one believes that an individual can refuse to follow laws and not face consequences, other then a tiny minority of very crazy people. That said, in theory the idea that in order for a government to continue to have authority the population must decide that the limits put on their freedom by the government are made worthwhile by the security the government provides is called Roseau's social contract theory and it is popular, logical and legitimate. Basically, what your describing is not true for individuals but is true for the collective

In the 90 s the police came to my parents house , my dad opened the door and said to the man are you looking for buisness ..the police man said yes ..my dad replied there is no buisness here for you ..and the man left ...police is ran as a buisness as is the country
