I'm a driver for Amazon and I've walked up to a house with the package and it won't scan, only to try and "pick it up" (if you don't work for amazon you won't understand what that means, essentially it's when we scan an item to try & add it to our itinerary if for some reason it wasn't already on it) after scanning it to "pick it up" it said "This Order Has Been Canceled" so I walked it back to my van. Would hate for someone to accuse me of stealing a package if it really wasn't the case.

The context of this post is a bit sensationalist and ignores some possibilities without giving the whole picture.


Do we know for certain this was theft? Or was it a case of wrong address and the right package is missing from the van/inventory?


This happened to me on numerous occasions when I was driving for BBWH who were contracted through Amazon to deliver packages through their warehouse (that way Amazon could remain blameless if anything went wrong). The Amazon Flex app was not perfect and I would call customer support about glitches daily. Warehouse staff worked like mad dogs to sort parcels on rollers and it wasn't unusual for someone to scan a packages TBA or QR into inventory then miss the bag it was assigned to.


Or was a recipient required for delivery and nobody answered the door?
Possibly, all the other deliveries they made that day were labeled "no recipient required" which got them in the habit of taking a picture before verifying. Then if they just simply forgot to knock (many houses have signs saying DO NOT KNOCK baby/grandpa/sleeping etc.) this could just be a case of misunderstanding. Whatever the case the driver should have reported it.

Y'all are jumping to conclusions. But if we had lockers for everything there would probably be less of this kind of thing.
