I’ve always considered UPS to be the Marines of package delivery, FedEx and USPS like the Army and Amazon weekend warriors.

I work with DHL, I think the company is more involved with supply chain than delivering to actual consumers. Branch I work for is contracted in a factory and DHL is responsible for loading the semi trucks and managing the semi trailers. I am a yard jockey, so I move the trailers around the property into loading doors and parking spots.

As a FedEx Driver we are not obligated to ring your doorbell. Check your tracking to know when your package gets there.

In the netherlands leaving packages outside doesnt exsist . They always ring the doorbell, hand it over. Sometimes you sign. Sometimes not. If you’re not home. They try the neighbor, if that fails/ or they try again the next day or bring it to your local nearby pickup point Which can be many different kind of stores/supermarkets. There is always one closeby. As we always have some commercial place at walkable distance.

The way they handle it in the usa looks horrible. Different kind of service. And surely not really safe, with al the thiefs. Why don’t they just do the same like in the Netherlands.

i work for ups and i’ve been out delivering we’re told to always hide the packages behind pillars or inside the box decorative thingies and always knock and ringnot all drivers are like this

but then again this is just your experience sorry it went that way.

Oh, forgot to even mention USPS. IF our male delivery person delivers, he walks it to the door, rings the bell and waits for you to answer. If there is no answer, he leaves a slip to say how to claim it. If the female delivery person has a pkg, she drops it outside your door, no knock on your door and forget about her ringing the doorbell...she leaves much to be desired. Oh, this is in Fort Lauderdale.

A rare occurrence of Fedex delivering the package intact. I bet it was late though! I don't think I've had a single Fedex delivery arrive at the scheduled date.

UPS put my delivery on hold saying they couldn't find the address. I was at home waiting the whole time. They didn't call me. Took me an hour after getting the failed attempted delivery notification to get a human representative on the phone to Iron out the issue. She says they're not allowed to have phones. Wtf. Also the address was correct they were just lazy. Hate them. Now I have to wait an extra day or so to have my package delivered. Not happy.

About doorbell its depend if you put that note in the comment section when you order your package. I work for dsp(amazon) and knocking/ringing was suspended and it back as required last month.
