Just to add on, I play entirely with a 360 controller, works fine for me. If you're used to controllers this game is still amazing. Just sharing my opinion. :)

Dammit Mack! you cost me money again. Heard about DR a few days ago and totally put it to down to just another Codemasters rally mess up. (lets be fair, the days of Codemasters racing game gold are a bit over). But seeing you positive about it i bought it as well and its pretty amazing. Even with a controller it handles very well, you should try playing without HUD though, makes it far better. And there are nice details you didn't even (or i might have missed), f.i. in a crash/roll in incar view the driver actually takes his hands off the steering and to his chest, nice touch. So good one again Mack, even though you were completely off with your MKX review you redeemed yourself again with this one ;)

The mk2 escort, FIat Abarth 131, Bmw E30 and the Audi quattro. Beautifully crafted machines, the only cars I race with. Ive driven the quattro IRL its beastly my uncle has a stock one, but my goodness id kill for an escort or Fiat 131, imo they are just extremely aesthetically pleasing to look at.

Mack delivers. :) Thanks for doing an early review/preview. My G25 is pretty much collecting dust in the cabinet so I was mildly thrilled to see Codemasters is finally doing a rally game that is - surprise, surprise - focused on rally. :D

yeah this game is wonderful. the driving is great and the lack of ken block bro fest makes me very happy. I had the same experience with constantly wrecking although I loved it. even now I eat it hard and mess up my lead its intense, you really do have to find a balance to not die. the game looks fantastic. I bought this an assetto corsa the same day and honestly I have been playing this one a lot more. I cant wait to see what they add

DiRT Rally also supports TrackIR for head movement and being able to look into the corner does make a big difference.

Wheel and pedals are ideal but a controller will work just fine if you're willing to put the time in and master it. I use a 360 controller without a problem.

Very funny and good review. I had to sub cause you sound like you know what you are talking about having karting experience. Anyways, I am attempting to play this with an Xbone controller since I don't have a wheel and it is very challenging. And that flick turn you mentioned is called a “Scandinavian flick" in case you were wondering. Can't wait for Hill Climb next month. Later.
