Surah Al-Araf, Verse 197:
وَالَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَا أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ
And those whom you call upon besides Allah, are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves.

Surah Al-Araf, Verse 194:
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ عِبَادٌ أَمْثَالُكُمْ فَادْعُوهُمْ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
Surely those whom you call on besides Allah are in a state of subjugation like yourselves; therefore call on them, then let them answer you if you are truthful.

Surah Al-Araf, Verse 198:
وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَىٰ لَا يَسْمَعُوا وَتَرَاهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ
And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking towards you, yet they do not understand.

Surah Al-Araf, Verse 199:
خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ
Practice forgiveness and enjoin good and turn aside from the ignorant.

It’s always been the same throughout history. Humans can’t bear to have the concept of a creator that they can’t see and touch.
So they make the creator to be something or someone tangible. Be it a golden calf, an elephant, a monkey, ... or a man 2000 years ago.
The creator of the universe walking around, eating, drinking. answering the call of nature, and living amongst human beings.
