Now, THIS is WHY I WANT the SAAB JAS-39E/F Gripen for the Philippines! Especially so if Sweden would help the Philippines establish its own aerospace industry by granting the Philippines a License-Production/Technology Transfer agreement to allow the Philippines to build parts & components as well as building the complete SAAB JAS-39E/F Gripen in order to support the maintenance requirements of Gripen E/F for the foreseeable future! And this should be accompanied by the US granting the Philippines a License-Production/Technology Transfer agreement to build the engine of the SAAB JAS-39E/F Gripen, the General Electric GE F-414 turbofan, just to keep the Gripen E/F flying well into the foreseeable future! In all honesty though, the Philippines should've carried out these proposals 23 years ago because, if it had, the Philippines would've had a RESPECTABLE Air Force that would make even the damn chinks pause!
