I really liked Whiplash and La La Land but was so disappointed with this one. There are good moments and the cinematography is beautiful but it lacked something for me. It remained superficial and didn't really give his characters substance. Also, some scenes were disgusting. And three hours (and 8 minutes) was way too long. It was so chaotic as if Chazelle was really on drugs doing it. I think he's searching for his style and trying a bit of everything with every movie (and that's something I like) but it didn't work this time. I hope his next will be better though.
