Her distinctive negative space is exactly why the ultra lightened hair suits her so well because it reinforces her unique features and her beauty comes across in a striking way.

This is so interesting and just proves that beauty is in the eye of the beholder cause I've genuinely prefered her with less/ultra natural makeup! I've always felt that the heavier makeup looks take away from her beauty a bit.

This makes so much sense now!! I have wider set eyes and wide eyebrows, which makes them look even wider. I also have a very youthful face. 31 years old and everyone thinks I’m maybe 19. When I do the no make up make up look, I still feel very blank and could never figure out why! Now I know.

She’s better without makeup, she has a fairy face and ethereal beauty

I like her face better with brown hair

I’m 63 years young and I’ve noticed I look washed out with natural makeup, or that “kardashian” lip look. I wear pretty bold makeup, meaning blush, bronzer, and lip, no eyes due to allergies. I get many compliments on the bold look and only comments of “are you sick?” when wearing natural. For reference I have medium olive skin, dark brown eyes and hair, so low contrast.

Wow, this explains what I’ve felt for so long!!! I’ve often felt like my face looks “blah”. I have a round face with wide-set, small hooded eyes. You pointing out how having wide set eyes draws attention to the blank spaces of the face I feel like rings true for me. And with a rounder face, I have a lot of this “blank” space.

I’m just getting into learning to wear makeup. It’s a steep learning curve lol. But now I’m seeing how learning to define areas of my face with makeup can benefit me. I feel like even just coloring in my eyebrows, adding some lip color (I don’t do anything super bold because I have big lips so too much will draw attention away from the eyes), and doing simple eye makeup can help my face feel a bit more defined and less “blah”.

I agree. I have a similar issue. Smokey eyes are my favourite.

I don't agree at all. She looks great without makeup, she just has some features that fall outside what we perceive as conventional beauty, and she can make those features look more conventional with makeup. The way makeup always works...

I also think she looked much better prior to her buccal fat removal.

People cannot be following other peoples makeup routines, they need to do it accordingly to their face shape, color skin, undertones, complimentary colors, complexion, facial features, etc. Once you can identify them, it makes a HUGE difference. I have deep set prominent round eyes, a doe eyelook is better for me, than the siren eye… it looks like im trying to re shape my eye and looks off

I am olive skin, orange wouldn’t look great on me like it would on a female with a darker complexion. (Very jelly 😩)

I would argue that Anya is very conventionally attractive. She has an ethereal and unique quality, but if you define her face in features, then she absolutely is the definition of conventional beauty. Big ways, nice eye brows, decent lid space, perfect sized nose with not too much upward or downward projection (perfect?) Shapely lips with perfect ratio 1/3 to 2/3. Good forward grown which means her forehead is nice and chin. Great jawline and check bones. Wide set eyes can look unhealthy and uncanny on some people, but when you are pretty, it just adds to features. That's why Gemma Ward was one of the forerunners for models a decade or so ago. It was a desired feature. Also, let's not even begin on her body. Of course, beauty is in they eye of the beholder. I know you never claimed she wasn't pretty, but standing out of the crowd doesn't mean you aren't conventionally attractive based on what is considered "conventionally attractive".
Love your videos, and so glad I've found you. Your content is useful and refreshing.

This was an awesome video and really helpful! I do have wide set and large eyes with a shorter nose. And I have been trying to do my makeup lately more on the “no make up” side. But always notice that it doesn’t create as good of an impact as when I define my eyes more. This explains everything. I will go back to defining my eyes more, even if subtly for everyday ocassions. Thank you! As always, so helpful and informative.

You are so on point ! I hope you'll talk about feminine/masculine faces in women and low contrast/high contrast.

Big eyes, small nose, big lips. She’s conventionally beautiful. She just doesn’t have “instagram face”

I absolutely love this video and your content! One thing I think is important with Anya to acknowledge is how cosmetic procedures/plastic surgery have creatively enhanced her distinctive features, especially when you compare how dramatic a transformation there is between Thoroughbreds (shot in 2016) and each year since then. Lorry Hill's video is quite helpful on this!

Uh oh looks like I'm gonna have to buy makeup lol.
The white of my eyes below are very visible and I have very fair skin. I always had the feeling something was missing but could never pinpoint it...
Awesome video as usual, Jen!
