The UK has missed out on much of the recovery in global trade after the pandemic subsided. Studies show that post-Brexit trade barriers are harming the economy, and the lack of EU workers is causing labour shortages. Only one in five Britons now say Brexit has gone well.

"Few ever imagined Brexit would be so problematic."

Apart from, y'know, half of the country who said that this shitshow would play out exactly as it has.

You cannot feel "betrayed" by a politician who lied to you, you should feel betrayed by your own arrogance and ignorance of wanting to believe in those lies.

"idiots suffer consequences of their own idiocy" would be a more befitting title for this video

What on earth did they expect more trade and easier trade?

I feel sorry for the ones who voted against it. The others especially those in business trading with the EU didn’t do their homework.

I really wish after that woman at 1:36 said "We wanted to be ourselves again, " that the reporter followed up by asking "What does that even mean?" I would really, really love to hear her try and articulate why something that abstract and esoteric was worth not having enough doctors anymore...

To be fair, half the country did not want Brexit. It wasn't as if 70% or even 60% wanted Brexit, it was just 52%. A tiny two percent majority shouldn't have been allowed to lead to such a huge and absolutely stupid decision.

Promised much, delivered nothing. Brexit in a nutshell.

that's the problem of the people : they lack imagination. they could not imagine how bad it would be.

Idk but I love the fact Brits are struggling because of their own arrogance. Chef kiss type of stuff.

The year began and something is already making it better than the entire 2022. Amazons AM2023X came out and it's such a great thing no matter where you come from. Everyone can participate and it is making many things easier than they have been. For example I live in France and this is something no one else could do for me here, if I just keep sitting on my toes for the next 5 years I'd simply go broke, now I can change that.

All that surprises me is that 20% think it is going well. What are they smoking to get that high? 🚬😂

Not allowing the UK to JOIN the EU is peoples of Europe will. No such thing as rejoin.

A very salty claim floating around is that some how the EU is responsible for Brexit not working, you know the very same EU these people say the UK must get away from to prosper. Well now that they are out of it, the picture ain't getting rosier either.

And when ask why they think this is the case, they say that the EU is at fault for not allowing the UK same market access and freedom of movement when the UK was part of it. Which is to say the EU is at fault for not bending backwards to appease their cakeism.

It's slowly dawning on them that EU membership wasn't the cause of the problems, it was merely being used as a politically suitable excuse by the far right. there's a lot of frustration out there amongst the ordinary working class people, weather they voted brexit or not, and it's looking for a place to land.

How could they fail to see that abandoning the largest common market in the world would increase trade restrictions exponentially? A) It's obvious to anyone who ever cracked open an Econ 101 textbook, and B) Countless analysts said so explicitly and repeatedly before the summer of 2016.

“ it was the will of the people”
But alas, the people was stupid …

Leaving such complex decisions for the people to vote on is always a bad idea. It should be left up to the elected officials, and if they make a bad decision you can vote them out. The masses are too easily swayed by meaningless slogans of patriotism and other such vacuous and vapid nonsense.

If you have a business you could of sat down, did some research, do some maths and you could of pretty much predicted how brexit would affect your business. Hence I really don't understand why these business people who voted for brexit feel betrayed, surprised etc by the outcome and loss of business.
