In the books Grindelwald redeems himself by not telling Voldemort where the elder wand is then Voldemort kills him. However in the movies they were just like "Lets not give Grindelwald redemption and lets make him betray Dumbledore by having him tell Voldemort where the elder wand is"

I'm confused. He didn't kill him in the movie but he did in the book. Grindelwald told him where to find the elder wand in the movie but in the book he didn't.

Last I checked, Grindelwald doesn’t tell him shit and then gets the last laugh on Voldemort

One of the worst changes from the books...

I never read the book so I always thought he was some random dude with a personality disorder.

Grindelwald looks amazing here. I can totally buy he’s an aging defeated supervillain, and the jovial lack of fear he shows toward Voldemort is inspiring. This scene only needs two things.

1. Gellert doesn’t tell Tom shit
2. Tom kills him

I hate that they didn't put in the movie that Grindelwald refused to betray Dumbledore here. However, that's not the only thing that I hate about the Deathly Hallows movies. In the second movie, they didn't put in Kreacher leading an army of House Elves against Voldemort in the name of Regulus Black. I would have loved to see that, but it wasn't in the movie. Shame.

Well it's not true.... The scene is fake and i don't know why film makers had to change Grindelwald didn't told where it is....rather he said that the wand will never be yours after which the *one who must not be named* killed

So either he killed him when it cut away or he didn't kill him. Either way I wish they would've added him warning him the wand will fail him.

...why the hell did they change the interaction from the books?? It was perfect there!

I think that Grinderwald should’ve been included more into the movies. In the books he is mentioned many more times that in the movies. Idk but it was kinda random Voldemort killing Grindelwald like that in the movies where into the books Grindelwald is mentioned a lot into Dumbledores and Harry’s conversations

Grindelwald might be as powerful as me, but he follows a certain playbook to a certain extent.

A lot of people annoyed they changed it, and for the most part about the film changes, I'd agree. But for the films, they don't have as much time, and having this scene gives Grindelwald more weight by having him give Voldemort the information. It presents Grindelwald as the villain he was, without the need for excessive backstory like in the books. I also kinda like the fact that they kept him evil until the very end, and as another comment mentioned, he looks great here, I can see the aged supervillain character even from half a minute of screen time. Even though I do prefer the book version

I believe the movies portray less that 25% of all that happens in the books...

I've never read the books, but even I know the differences between book and movie. The movie fluffed this up badly! But there again... I liked Gellert, so was pretty cool to see him get left alive in the movies.

never mind, you can see where I’m going with this can’t you.

this is stupid. Grindelwald doesnt tell him where the wand is and instead mocks him.

Dumbledore was already dead at this point, and you cannot take the Elder Wand by combat from someone who is dead. Grindelwald was mocking Voldemort in this scene, it works just as well as the long exposition of the books.
