How to calculate the second moment of area (I) for beam bending problems
Session 13 - Question 3 - Beam with an Overhang

Apologies for some confusion in calculating the max bending stress for Session 13 - Q3 by using a/2 instead of y. If you look at the updated slides for Session 13, the calculation for the stress at location y above the neutral axis should now be correct. Also, it is much simpler to calculate the bending moment at the desired distance by just looking at the overhanging region and covering up the left portion of the overhang.
