This is a complete playthrough of the MS-DOS CD-Version of Alone in the Dark. I have cut away things like saving a game or leaving unimportant stuff behind. It should still work as a walkthrough for anyone who would like to experience the ending himself :)

If you happen to understand German, there are lots of Let's Plays of new and old games on my channel, so maybe take a look! :) Thank you all for being here!

What a horrible detective. He's paid to find an antique piano, but instead he exorcizes a building.

my computer at the time wasn't good enough to play the music, and the silence made it all even scarier

This takes me back. I remember this was super high tech when it came out. What a time to be alive.

4:36 I love this shot so much. It so clearly illustrates the difference between the protagonist, the antagonist, and the player. A monster peers out the window, the main character doesn’t realize just how much danger he will be putting himself in by entering the mansion, the one with the clearest idea is you, yet you make him enter the house, and you will both soon find out just what you’re in for.

It's seriously impressive how detailed this game was for its time!

I remember playing this as a teenager. How hyped the low polygon graphics were back then.

This game is notoriously hard. Not only it's got apocryphic puzzles, but the user interface was kinda the hardest fight in the game. The cool cinematic camera angles had the drawback of not knowing where the character is actually facing which made hitting monsters quite difficult at times and the movement reminds me of a flea stuck in a puddle of tar carrying the piano from the loft.

And about the game's plot and puzzles. You actually had to read into the books, notes, letters, parchements and stuff and think. The solutions to the puzzles were not offered on a silver platter, you had to work for them.

It's a very cool game and it's got a tingling atmosphere. Scary, too. The story is very good.

I remember playing this on a cold winter's night for the first time in 1993. I must have been about 11 at the time. I still remember being absolutely terrified. Was hooked on Survival Horror games ever since. This wasn't just a game for me, it was a lived experience. I even often dreamed about it.

You're awesome for taking the time to do this. I have one fond memory of this game when I was a kid. I'm at some doctor appointment and all I can think about is wanting to get home to play this for the first time. That day was perfect, I got home at night, it was a weekend, and there was a decent thunderstorm which accompanied the gameplay perfectly. I literally sat alone in the dark, thunder rumbling, rain coming down, in my basement, and even though the graphics suck now, they were awesome back then. I was totally immersed and watching you play brings it all back. Thank you for sharing!

Here because I heard THQ say their version is a "reimagination", so I'm here to learn what the original was like, thanks for posting this man! Really appreciate the knowledge!

I’m pretty sure this game helped pave the way for Resident Evil

Thanks so much for this!! I was obsessed with this game when I was about 14 years old. I’m 37 now. Stayed up for days playing it and calling the 1-900 number for game hints and tips. 😂😂
