Nice. Here's an elaboration.
'Got it' omits 'have' in the full version 'I have got it.'

'I get it' expresses learning where someone in the context like a teacher already knew.

'I have got it' expresses the obtaining of a new idea where no one else in the context had it, and 'Got it?' or long form 'Have you got it?' expresses the speaker checking for whether the listener recognizes a new rule. As both are in perfect present tense, they emphasize ownership with 'have, ' either of a new idea or new rule.
