I used to have a PRS core, sold it and got a PRS S2 standard 24 like this but in black. I thought the core was just to beautiful and was always afraid to damage it. It is my favorite guitar now!

Sounds great. So did the Vela. There is no right or wrong answer, only personal preference.

I have a 2016 S2 standard 24 as well in Egyptian Gold. I ended up changing out the HFS and VB pickups for a JB and 59. But it is a great feeling guitar.

Sounds good, looking forward to the demo. OCD note: I believe that these HFS and Vintage Bass pups are G&B Pickups Korean made versions of the original HFS/VB pups but without an "S" label to confirm it such as the 58/15"S" used from 2017 onwards in S2 Standard 24s. These sound better than some of the G&B "S" pups to my ears. US made PRS HFS/VB were in my 1990s PRS EG-2 and they were pretty meaty.

Yep totally different vibes between this and the Vela. Both are Great. This one definitely has a bolder tone....the Vela would sit between a humbucker equipped guitar and a typical vintage S-style guitar in my mind. There are wonderful places for each of these types of tones in recording. I believe that the PRS S2 Standard features a "coil-tap" system instead of a "coil-split". Notice those pickup reading ... comparing the full humbucker mode versus pulling that knob up. They aren't cut in half!

I have the 2017 version of this. I had to send it in for a pickup issue, they said 85/15s. I noticed your song was mostly in the bridge, umm. I am a fan of the neck pup. This is my main out and about guitar. They have a double humbucker Vela S2, the Vernon Reid signature. 👾

I must admit, I'm put off by the looks of most PRS guitars.. the birds and the finishes (pimps toilet seat) really put me off. That's a pretty nice looking guitar. slightly ugly pickguard, but other than that, quite attractive. I'm mostly a Schecter guy these days (massively overlooked imo) and I'm still on the search for a LP style guitar that I can bond with.. 40+ years and I STILL can't find a HB guitar that works for me *sigh*
