Dude I wanna hang out for the weekend and just make back to back shots with you and learn EVERYTHING. I just upgraded from an automatic espresso machine to a Crossland CC1 Semi auto that I found for a great deal. WOW it is a lot of fun to learn and take it up a notch. This is a deep deep rabbit hole, that I can’t wait to get lost in. Thanks for making videos, just found your channel, I am sure Ill be hours in before long.

This reminds me a BIT of Bacas salami shot video. And finding that sweet spot in an espresso shot. Great stuff. Enjoying the Ethiopian! (Tho I'm partial to a good Ethiopian so how can I not enjoy it).
That espresso is opening tonight just before the club lol

Cheers!

All you need for the perfect espresso: PID timer (28 second shot), light to medium roast single origin beans, whole milk, mazzer doser, and a 0.5L jug, cold.

Can someone explain to me, if the ristretto is 1:1 brew ration, why the shot time was almost 10 seconds longer than the standard shot? Is it because the grind is that much finer?

i have used the finest grind still cant get 1:2 espresso between the extraction time. I hit 1:2 ratio around 14 seconds. Is there something i missed out?

Any ristretto will be nominally under extracted (if using sca 19-21 ey). That's OK there is some sweetness around a 1:1 shot than can be had, but it will be "under extracted" by standard definitions. Im not arguing against amongs making these kinda shots, people should make and enjoy the coffer they make.

Hi! What scales do you use? I’m new to coffee and so it my boss. We’ve gone through a couple of scales already because they don’t weigh the portafilter well :-(

At 0:34, which dosing funnel is that? I’ve been looking for one to use with my Eureka Mignon Silenzio (along side my Bezzera Hobby ‘spro machine) and this looks PERFECT! Thanks in advance!!

That ristretto could probably use an ever so slightly coarser grind size just to speed things along a little. Will most likely taste a lot sweeter and less acidic than the 0:38s shot. I would try to get all 18g or 20g out in about 30s. Give it a try!

What scale is that and do you think it would fit on a Beville Dual Boiler’s trey?

I see you use 18g of coffee. Can you help me understand what difference it makes to the flavor when you go from 18g to 20g with the correct flow rate for both.
I’m confused about this ie what more more less coffee does to the taste and when you should increase the dose instead of making the grind finer??

Hey @TheRealSprometheus regrading extraction time, I see that people usually aim for 25 to 30 seconds, however most people are using the standard 58 mm portafilter, but someone who has a smaller portafilter like a 51 mm the coffee grounds have more depth, and aren't speard out as much, which would make it seem that the extraction time should be longer if you're using the same grind size as the 58 mm, and the only way for me pull a shot in the 51 mm in the 25 to 30 second range is to have the grind size much more course then a desired espresso grind, so is it that for a smaller portafilter the extraction time is above the 25 30 second range or is it that you just have to grind courser then a standard espresso grind? Thank you very much, and like all your videos a lot!

That autofocus racking back and forth is quite distracting.
