omg... THIS is what marvel doesn't seem to understand... there are PEOPLE underneath the "Captain America" and "Winter Soldier" enigmas... and Steve & Bucky are the ONLY ones who KNEW the actual PERSON underneath the enigma 😭
It's what made CATWS so amazing, all the parallels, the mirrors, all following THE quintessential Cap plotline from the Brubaker comics...
But for SOME reason MCU (& Marvel as a whole) decided to not only drop the core relationship what made Steve & Bucky's characters work, they also sideline the hell outta Bucky and didn't adapt the rest of the central storyline that Brubaker's comics set up for him... even though the Winter Soldier origin story was supposed to be a set-up for Bucky taking on a larger protagonist role.
It makes no sense, and I hope Marvel realizes what a big mistake it was to shut Bucky & Stucky out of the focus. It was good, it was cinema, it was storytelling. And it was wasted.

Why would steve go through all that, helping, protecting, & saving bucky just to end up leaving when he saw a chance.
