Interest based advertising

Well, it adds "interests" to your personal cookie. So, I don't think it does box you in, because once you become interested in something else, it will add your interest to your settings and then you'll receive ads based on your new interests (as well as your old ones).

there are alot of irrelevant ads
i am internet service provider but i do not consume website building services i provide them.
ther is no way to say "not relevant" or "dislike" to an ad

This is very smart, but it boxes us in. We begin to ONLY see what we want to see. If your search engine only shows you things you already want to see, how will you *easily* find anything new? Its like being a radical in a political party and completely refusing to even listen to what the other party has to say because, "OH, no, I'm good. I already KNOW what I want and, therefore, you must be wrong."

This is useful information to know. Since I'm bombarded with ads since the time I get up till the time I go to bed, it's good to know I can at least choose the kinds of ads I want to watch.

Most of it is a lie... According to Google transparency reports and privacy policies, they totally store your personal information and admit to it. Also they give out your information if they receive a court order. Funny those facts should be left out of this video...

Choosing your ads doesn't work very well, if you can figure out their logic on the Ads Preferences page. They took their video off their work pages, it looks like they took it off here to. If it as bad as his phishing scams video I can see why. 12-18-12
