The "we need it for defense" argument is ridiculous, we already have defense pact and military presence there. They allow near unlimited military presence there for the US.

As a Norwegian soldier im at the point that i want Denmark to ask the scandinavian countries to deploy troops to Greenland, so the USA wont be able to take independent countries without a fight. I would go willingly, thats how mad i am about this situation.

In my opinion, "taking" Greenland should be such a non-starter that it shouldn't warrant serious discussion. Denmark and Greenland were already allies and reasonably friendly to US interests. Deepening military and economic cooperation would have accomplished the same policy objective, without creating serious fractures in the US' existing alliances. Taking it by force does not make the world safer. Far from it. It just emboldens strong countries to invade their smaller or weaker neighbours, thereby creating more instability.
