From Leon Russell's second album on his and Denny Cordell's Shelter Records label, here is a song he wrote titled "She Smiles Like a River." It was one of two songs on the album (Leon Russell And The Shelter People) that was recorded with the Muscle Shoals Swampers. Leon handled the piano, guitar and vocals with Barry Beckett on organ, Jimmy Johnson on guitar, David Hood on bass and Roger Hawkins on drums. It was released on an unusual promo single with only one side. Side two was blank and had an unprinted white label. The album was housed in a sleeve designed like an egg crate and also contained a lyric sheet and a flexi-disc with samples of songs released by other Shelter artists, Freddie King, The Grease Band and Don Nix, as well as some yet to be released stuff by Asylum Choir, Jim Horn, Alan Gerber, JJ Cale, and Jesse Barish, Wolff & Whings.
