Korg M1 !!! When it came out …. I suddenly feel old :) I purchased it because it was THE synth to get. I saved up with money from my first job to pay for it. Never looked back !!! Happy Christmas to you and everyone and a fantastic new year.

01:31 - Groovy dude! 😎
My first? An actual kalimba that, coincidentally, I just found in the basement. Gotta be ~40 years old.
Thanks for another heads up compilation!

My first purchase was: M-Audio Axiom 25 key midi keyboard, still use it to this day and it works and feels a lot better than todays products in similar price.

First ever piece of gear was a 2 track recorder then the focusrite bundle 1st generation. Thanks for the videos as always. Have a great and happy Christmas and I wish you all the best for 2024.

Sanjay Saturday. Wow, a very interesting merger. I can't even remember what I had first in a "studio". I had the same mixer you did. I probably have it in a closet somewhere still.

Thanks for this Saturday again. Didn‘t know about Mackie and Rode; I have gear of both companies (Mackie: Big Knob +, Rode: NT1 mic and another mic for a camera)… Happy Christmas to you both! 👏🏻👍🏻 💫🌟✨

My first purchase is Arturia Minilab MKII after the Chrstmas in 2021, as my starter equip to produce edm. Pretty useful gear but a bit of heavy to carry as a mini keyboard.

Thanks for the upload and freebies update. 👍
First purchase, well, via Dad was the Casio MT-520 with the yellow hexagon pads, also, someone at my School was selling the Yamaha VSS-200 Sampling keyboard 8-bit lo-fi which came with a pull out Mic attached with spiral cable (telephone cable). I rode 5 miles and back on a cheap bike to get this Yamaha, holding it in one arm while holding the handle bars with the other arm.. Slow ride home but worth it. I think I paid £60 for it in 1987 or 88, England, and was a great learning tool after trying Rec & repeat cassette tape sampling using tape, record, Mic, aux in on a hi-fi stereo system or using 2 hi-fi systems together.

Thanks Sanjay

Me too Sanjay! I still use that very same “little” Mackie only for recording bass guitar inserted in the XLR inputs. I found out by chance, after years of testing any kind of professional gear (real amps, pedals, VTSs) that the Mackie has the best sound (for me) I can get from a bass guitar. It’s smooth, soft, and clean. It sounds like it has a super subtle compressor and chorus. It’s clean but it has its own subtle sound.

My first gear was a Tascam 4 track cassette portastudio with an Alesis MMT 8 midi sequencer. This was the latest technology at the time. Having 4 tracks to bounce down to was Gold!

Hi Sanjay! Hi Dharti!
Another great weekly news roundup!

Oh, and very happy about winning the Fluid Audio interface!! Can't wait to give it a go!

To answer today's question, my first hardware purchase was in 1997, which I bought a 50w Marshall combo amp and an Ibanez electric guitar.

The memories!

That said, keep being awesome!

My first piece of gear was the Tascam 388 8 track recorder along with the Ensoniq ESQ-1 and a Oberheim DX. I made a ton of money deejaying the prior years and after seeing a lot of the early 80's deejays jump into producing I decided to do the same. My thinking at the time was do 8 tracks on the ESQ and sync it to the DX I would mix those to a stereo mix leaving me 6 channels for vocals and any additional sounds. I ran the studio out of my parents basement my entire time in college!

I started with a used Roland SH-1. It was the only synth I could afford at the time with a brand name I recognized.
