This still remains my favorite game of all time. Everything from the western eeriness, immersive world and its inhabitants and its brilliant storytelling.

Goodsprings is so deceptive. At first it seems like the typical RPG starting area, safe and full of friendly people. But venture just a few steps too far to the north and a deathclaw will chase you all the way back to an empty trailer, then wait outside until you starve to death because the only weapon you have is a revolver with seven bullets.

I Remember the first time I strolled into goodsprings IRL back in ‘17. Was fresh out of high school and New Vegas was with me the whole way through it. I remember wandering goodsprings in the game till 3 am avoiding homework and just listening to the music, feeling the western desert that I was so familiar with in my upbringing in Southern California. I seek to return this November... and am playing through New Vegas as we speak so I can remember everything and remember the nostalgia I got after visiting Vegas for the first time after being in New Vegas. I’ll tell Chet and Doc you said hi.

“Why this old thing? This here guitar is about the only thing my daddy left me afore he up and left…. Never knew him, I don’t think even ma really knew him. Always said he was a real *mysterious* fella… _almost like he was a stranger sometimes. . ._

*Guitar riff plays*

I remember crying the first time I heard this in game. It's so melancholy, yet comforting. I can't explain it.

I feel like the soundtrack has a feeling of a quiet relaxing place although there's an unknown danger surrounding it

I'm on my first playthrough.

Easy Pete died during the PG assault.

I just stood there, staring at his corpse and listening to this song.

I took his hat and revolver, It has a special spot on my inventory.

When I find the PG's leader, I'm killing him with it.

im on my fourth playthrough of new vegas and i still can never bring myself to side with the powder gangers. Something about goodsprings is just so warm and comforting compared the harsh cruel wastelands and the music definitely contributes to that

I like to play this when I’m wandering the badlands outside of Night City

Whenever I'm practicing shifting from 1st to 3rd position on the violin, this track comes to mind. I'm not sure if any lone soul out there can relate to this, but that up and down slide at the beginning is just... too iconic. Makes me feel like a lone prospector sitting in goodsprings, playing around on an old fiddle.

Goodsprings and Armadillo from Red Dead Redemption always had a similar vibe to me, a settlement in the desert with a slight mystic edge to it

If humans could chose a soundtrack to play throughout their day my soundtrack would be the FNV ambient music 100%

I picked up this game from a bargain bin at a drug store 2 days after being laid off in 2015. Definitely slowed my progress applying for new jobs but damn it got me through it.

There is something so special about Bethesda’s older games (Yes I know this game wasn’t made by Bethesda but still). I really miss the vibe that Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and NV had

This piece also plays in the Crimson Caravan exterior, and there's something special about that.

Now, that's not going to be the first time you've heard this since leaving Goodsprings. The town has a workbench and reloading bench a stone's throw from the fast travel point, and the early game is quite thin on merchants, so you will be popping in again (possibly multiple times, praying Chet has restocked).

But, as you wander in because Cass's quest marker points you here, or because it's across the street from the clinic and Blake has two implants' worth of caps and some good ammo and weapons to boot (plus two quest items), you've probably forgotten about Ringo. His overall relevance to the plot is minimal at best, but it is for him that you rallied the citizens of Goodsprings, and thus stood up to the Powder Gangers and repaid the town for saving your life.

But nonetheless, there he is at the gate, his words pulling you immediately into dialogue and giving you another opportunity to listen to this magnificent theme that accompanied you as you scavenged the town as a level two Courier trying to find their way in the world:

"Hey there! Here's the rest of the payment I promised you in Goodsprings."
