If you're visiting London in the winter (November - February) you'll get cold temps for sightseeing. Here are my tips for how to dress to stay warm while visiting London, so you don't freeze while walking around London trying to have a good time 😎

I'll tell you why layering is so important in London, what items you should pack for visiting London in the winter, items that I personally use to stay warm while filming for hours around the city, and also how to stay warm without looking bulky and sweaty when you go out to bars and restaurants at night. (keep reading for clothing recommendations)

About Love and London:

I love travelling to London in the winter. The crowds are lighter, accommodation rates are down and you can easily get tickets to things. By Canadian standards it isn’t cold although the bone-chilling damp can go right through you. I am fine with my lightest puffer jacket and waterproof footwear for the inevitable shower.

I just want to say that you have helped me a lot. I’m taking a solo trip to London in September and I was starting to get a little nervous about it until I found your channel. You have crushed my fears and I really really appreciate you creating videos for people like me. ☺️

Where I live it was -38C this morning, so I probably would wear shorts in London 😊

I live in Canada, I think I would over pack because I’m so use to wearing layers for our cold winters. Thanks for giving me an idea of how to pack if I’m ever in London in the winter.

You should try going to Muj! I just left London and they had some great options of gloves that keep your hands really warm and you can also use your phone!

Hi Jess!!! I started watching your videos a while ago when going to the UK was just a dream…well this week I booked my birthday/solo/ first time travel trip to London and I can’t wait!! I’m coming from Texas so this video is super helpful since it doesn’t get really cold here. I’m a bit nervous; but mostly excited! I’m so looking forward to you releasing your new 3 day itinerary to help me build the perfect trip! Thanks Jess!! 🥰🥰🥰

Re the gloves - I tend to double up on gloves. I wear a pair of fingerless gloves (the ones that only have the tips cut off) and then a pair of normal gloves over the top of them. This way if I need to I can take the top glove off and have my fingers free to use my phone, use my keys, use my train ticket, without freezing my hands offs because it is still technically a gloved hand.

I live up north and it's baltic the now, coming down next week I need to remember that London is a tad warmer than the rest of the UK too. Was there in September and layers were a saviour, the train down wasn't too bad but out and about was colder and the museums were warm so being able to add and remove them as need be was easier than being too hot or cold. I had a vest top on, a lightweight loose long sleeved top plus my jumper and coat which all worked nicely.

I'm happy to see that I'm pretty prepared since Washington State weather seems to be pretty similar to London. EXCEPT... We need to look a little nicer to blend in there.

Hi, Jess, another very useful video particularly for first time visitors. Very difficult to plan for weather in London because it varies so much. Looking forward to your next video.

I'm enjoying your videos! My husband and I will be visiting London, Ireland, and Scotland the beginning of June for our 30th wedding anniversary. I've already started packing!

Very good advice especially if your visiting London and find yourself on the open top deck of a tour bus! You’ll need to wrap up.
