*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Hi, it seems like a weekly occurrence now but the Switch 2 rumors are definitely heating up with this idea that it will be announced this week. We wanted to share our perspective from working at Nintendo on why this is probably unlikely. Obviously, anything is possible but right now doesn't seem like the optimal time for Nintendo to make this huge announcement. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.

My business mind: Early 2025
My Nintendo fan mind: THIS WEEK

Super video as ever. Also worth adding: Japan is still picking up the pieces after its own snap election which will dominate its own airspace this week.

Thank you Kit & Krysta for making me feel sane amongst the repeated and wrong Switch 2 "announcement" leaks that have been happening every week for the past year. It happens when it happens, and if everyone guesses every week, they'll be right eventually.

Thank you for telling people all of this!
I’m so tired of YouTubers making up these rules around when Nintendo needs to announce Switch 2 or anything new.
Nintendo has always done things their own way and you can never predict their next move.
When they’re ready, they’ll let you know!

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see anything about it until February

Finally, someone's done it! Thank you for bringing up that this is an election season! I am amazed that no one else seems to have taken this into account! I think you're spot on about there being no room for Nintendo in the mainstream media during this time. It would make absolutely no sense to make any sort of major announcement for the rest of the year. Great video, K&K!

Last time Nintendo didn’t have to worry about killing Wii U holiday sales. The switch is still selling crazy numbers and it’s primetime now for holidays. It’ll be a tough call to announce it now. It could work it could have people massively hold off. January is perfect.

You guys bring up such common sense reasons that I can’t understand why a lot of people don’t think “hmm, maybe this is why we haven’t heard anything yet”. From the start, once they announced the LoZ Switch Lite and all the games coming out this holiday season, was all that convinced me they wouldn’t make an announcement till after the new year. And the election season is even more convincing of a reason on top of all that. My personal prediction is February, but we shall see.

Thank god you guys made an episode on this. It has been a very hard 1 vs 100 for the past 3 months on r/NintendoSwitch2.

Thank you for setting things straight. Console "rumors" are so boring these days. Just people straight up lying for clout. I miss the days when the conjecture was so stupid and outlandish rather than trying to sound "smart". Like when the Nintendo Revolution was supposed to be full room holographic technology. Fun times!

People been saying ‘today is the day for Nintendo Switch 2 announcement’ for the past 1 year 😂 and still nothing happened

Nintendo didn't change their sales forecast earlier this year, so they expect to sell 13.5 million Switch units this fiscal year. In order to reach this and please shareholders, they HAVE to sell really well this holiday season, which means no distractions with the announcement of a product like the Switch 2. We all wish to see this thing, but it would not make any sense from a strategic/ business standpoint. They're in no hurry, the switch is still selling well for an almost 8 year old product. Outselling xbox in the U.S. and still number 1 in Japan.

This was such a well done, informative video! As someone who has thought of Nintendo not wanting to hurt their holiday sales as a reason to be on Team 2025, seeing so many Nintendo focused channels saying “they won’t care about hurting Switch sales in the holiday season”- it’s INCREDIBLY validating to hear from people who have worked at the company that “yes, they do.”

And hearing how much they pay attention to everything in the world when making announcements is really interesting to learn for me. Getting this kind of inside scoop on how they run the company is very interesting.

Also, good point that I absolutely should have thought of before- they do these investor meetings all the time. Why would this one be any different for them? Why is this the make or break point for a reveal of the next console?

I’ve always been leaning to Team 2025, just always had a gut feeling. I’m not immune to the speculation when weird things happen, so September being possible was on my mind, same with October. But this video is such a good argument why it’s not likely to happen and way more insightful than a gut feeling, lol.

I appreciate you not going into politics aside from mentioning that this is an election (which was a totally relevant point). This channel is about having fun, video games & fond memories to warm our hearts for years to come. You 2 are successful because you are authentic & genuinely interesting. I remember fondly the days when i would wait for the next Nintendo minute & wondering who or what was going to be a part of it.

Well said. These are all fantastic points. Glad to hear a former Nintendo employee perspective weigh-in on a classic rumor-mill debate. I greatly appreciated this discussion. Thanks guys ☺️

Yeah, been saying something similar all year. if they didn't announce earlier in the year, they're not going to announce this year at all. You WANT to build up momentum going into the holidays, you want everyone to really REALLY want your product vs all the other products everyone else wants during the holidays. It's literally a clusterfuck of attempts to grab people's attention to MAYBE have the chance to grab their wallet. All of that takes time and a lot of word of mouth and you don't accomplish all that in 2-3 months. So, yeah, next year makes the most sense.

Nintendo revealed Switch in October because Wii U would never benefit from holiday sales.

I 100% maintain my theory that March 2025 is the most likely time Nintendo would announce the Switch 2.

Not only does that avoid all the complications and distractions mentioned, but announcing the Switch's follow up on the anniversary of the original Switch's launch would absolutely line up with Nintendo's MO, and then gearing it up for a summer 2025 launch would make it both primely marketable as the "must have, on the go" new toy/tech gadget of the summer which would, in turn, set it up for success for Holiday 2025 (since theoretically any potential supply chain issues would be ironed out by then and plenty of stock avalible for sale)

I have since the beginning said after Christmas would be the earliest for an official announcement. But clearly no one knows except possibly Nintendo higher ups and marketing team.
