You explained what a Joule was, not what it was used for. For example, if someone asked "what is a parallel circuit used for?, " you couldn't say "it's a circuit where each resistor forms a complete circuit." That's explaining what a parallel circuit is. You would say something like "houses utilize a parallel circuit so that plugging in a device closes a portion of the circuit and so that one outlet failing does not cause all outlets to fail."
