I really don't understand these foreigners? I've been to more countries than 60% of them. And I never, never had a complaint about anything, their life and that's it. Imagine going to their country and talking and only talking, this is it. this way and it should be that way, etc. So stay in your place, village, state and don't salt the brains of others. What kind of world, planet is it if we are all culturally the same? Nothing if we don't differ at least a little. If you don't know Serbs and Serbia don't even judge. This applies to all foreigners.

Im fully Serbian and some of my fellow natives are going to hate on me for this comment, but I HAVE to address couple of things here:
1. I DO in fact understand how smoking is a culture shock, just like smelling marihuana in every corner of Toronto was for me. TO BE HONEST many countries in Europe have designated places for smoking and we are currently facing the new law that would address the issue of smoking in public spaces
2. For my fellow confused natives - WE ARE what we call Southeast Europe, but most of other nations consider us Eastern European and it’s easier for them, just like we don’t make much difference between Americans and Canadians (and yes there is a difference much like the differences we have with Northern eastern Europeans - you do like drinking Šljivovica with Polish people, right)?
3. Although we have one of the richest histories in the world, I do understand the gloom that the grayscale architecture and dirty streets of Belgrade brought to your mood. There are some rudimental places in Belgrade that are not like that, but the brutalism and socialism got its way in painting its picture (even I don’t understand why we call this city the “White city”)
4. In regards to the previous, we have beautiful nature and other cities and towns that shine their brigthness and beauty through colors and beautiful architecture - Niš, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Jagodina, Kruševac, Zrenjanin, Sombor, Subotica etc., south and north from Belgrade. Serbia is facing some difficult times in her geopolitical, financial and social history, but we are in fact a beautiful nation - we just cannot show it to you right now bcs our priorities are elsewhere - building those numerous apartment buildings that you counted for the rich, that have no account with our history AT ALL (sorry, partially our fault)

Serbia emerged as an independent state in the 12th century, gaining prominence during the medieval period. However, the modern Kingdom of Serbia was officially formed in 1882, and the Kingdom later became part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes in 1918, which eventually transformed into the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The current Republic of Serbia was established on June 5, 2006, following the dissolution of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.

Smoking could actually prove less harmful to your health than eating those Chipsy foodie trash.

What exactly was the shock ? That there was no airconditioning in the bus (lol) ? Actually one of the reasons I like buses in the Balkans is that I have no AC. No chance to get sick from these cold winds, no need to take a pullover with you in the middle of summer, and it makes so nicely sleepy that you arrive somewhere before you realise that a few hours passed.

The problem with this video is, first of all, being in Belgrade and not visiting historical places. You were in the "old part" of the town and you haven't even visited Kalemegdan??? The buildings you took shots of were so dull because you only put dull ones in the video. That part of town is actually famous for old Austro-Hungary style of buildings that are actually gorgeous. Maybe if you went to Knez Mihajlova that is like only THE MOST FAMOUS STREET IN BELGRADE, you would see it. How about visiting Saint Sava temple, the second-biggest orthodox temple in this part of Europe? Talking about the buildings, it would also be nice for you to visit old RTS (radio-television of Serbia) or what is left of it after NATO bombing. It is a monument in the center of the city, only a few streets from the park you ate that food in. Be happy that Serbia as a country allows Americans to come to our soil after bombing us for 78 days. Maybe that is a cultural shock to you??? Your president Biden initiated the attack. No gangs on the street, homeless people? Unlike America, Serbia and Belgrade have an extensive history that can be seen if you really wanted to show. This whole video is just bashing and trying to show the negative sides of a place. It feels like you "tried" to make it as worst as possible. One of the things that can back me up is you recording construction sites? Who would put construction sites in a video talking about the "cultural shocks"? Cultural shock is you being welcomed in the country you bombed and whose buildings your country destroyed and then coming to record that same place and those buildings with additional commentary. Shame on you.

I am born and raised in Serbia, and I completely agree with you on that smoking part. I hate it. You can't sit in a caffe or be in a nightclub without becoming completely consumed by the stink of cigarettes - it gets in your hair, your clothes, everything you have on you
Hopefully they'll ban smoking in enclosed space soon 🙏🏻

I think her biggest shock is how many Serbs watch videos about themselves.

Maybe you should take a European map in your hands, and see where Europe goes to the east, then where is west, north and south. You will definatelly come to conclusion, that Serbia is south-central and not east Europe.

Clickbaits are the absolute worst thing on this platform. She's like surprised like about like smoking, like, a zoomette that acts as if public smoking wasn't normal everywhere until fairly recently, well within her lifetime, including the country her insufferable accent comes from. I'd like to see her take on smoking habits in China which she's never been to, ironically enough. Also, splash out for anything but the dingiest bus company and you'll have plenty of AC. It's not Eastern Europe, it's being clueless.
