That on board subwoofer will really come in handy for organ pedal tones! You will really be able to feel the 32 foot, 64 foot and maybe even 128 foot bass notes through this! Also, what is quite unique about this whole series of keyboards is the stand up satellite speakers (most boards have them built in flat) and there ate a lot of keyboards lacking their own speakers (or amplifiers for that matter)! (Such as stage pianos and organs)! Just ask Dan "Fingers" Radowitz at the Oakland-Alameda County Colosseum for he plays a Tyros because they were too cheap to install a real ballpark organ over there (how ironic since these boards cost $5300 for the 61 key model and as much as $6800 for the 76 key Tyros 5 that hit the market in 2013)?

Thanks for your additional info. What I actually tried to say was that a combination of "PSS" and "Portatone" simply doesn't exist because "Portatone" is a term used for the "PSR" series of keyboards. Of course there has been the "PS" series in the early 80's...but that's another story. Back then there were "PS" PortaSound keyboards (PS-200, PS-400 etc.) as well as "PS" Portatone keyboards (PS-55, PS-6100 etc.). Very confusing...but fortunately there are keyboard maniacs like you and me! :-)

Guys - this is great stuff. Korg mastered concept of Workstation but Yamaha got Keyboard concept top notch.

PSS stands for PortaSound Small for keyboards with smaller keys, and PSR stands for PortaSound Regular for keyboards with regular sized keys

Don't blame the machine for the fault of the player. I love arranger workstations: they're very inspirational and make great compositional aids. I wouldn't be a bit ashamed to take one of these on stage, if I could actually afford it. Pair this with a Korg Kronos or a Music Computing StudioBLADE and you wouldn't need another keyboard for a very long time. Nice demo, btw!

You probably mean the PSR 400 (PSS stands for the PortaSound series with smaller keys).
