I've studied Judo and Aikido through the same Sensei I can say this is beautifully done. It isn't until a skilled practitioner throws you that you realize how effective is.

The biggest difference between Aikido and Aikijujitsu is the size of the circles. This is seen in the throws and joint manipulations. Aikijujitsu has tighter circles which typically result in more damage to the joints

Good etiquette and solid technique. Nice variation of ganseki otoshi at 3:30.

And to all the "experts" that complain that this demo is too choreographed and the uke too compliant if you know an effective way to teach joint destructive techniques without actually destroying the joints of your training partners then I'd like to see it.

Great to see Kondo Sensei still active, hope he keeps well.

I've tried this martial art and is amazing for discipline and teaching you how the body works. For all the haters out there, this demonstration doesn't show how this would apply to a self defense situation on the street and is not claiming anything . There are systems out there specifically created for street self defense like krav maga, kalah and others.

You need to feel it to understand it. To all the haters, look at it as a specialized type of training in perfect body mechanics. There is a lot to be learned and it can add to whatever style or styles you practice. So can Aikido. What I really wonder is, if everyone hates Daito Ryu and Aikido so much...why are you watching?

Before you make a stupid comment complaining how it doesn't seem "explosive, " or "realistic, " this is a demonstration of techniques used. It's the same as a boxing instructor showing you how to weave without actually throwing punches full speed. This is done to show how the technique works, in a real fight these scenarios would be over too quickly to be able to break down.

Wasn’t expecting the woman to perform the F5 on her partner LOL

I've done that technique 3:28 and got in a lot of trouble (Assult charges), but it is the best and more efficient, so watch out, this is not to be used with civilians.

Everyone had to be on their knees when some one from the royalty was in the castle, they were not allowed to stand on their feet in front of royalty, it was disrespectful, so that's why they had these techniques in which they attack and defend on their knees. Both for performing them as exhibitions for such members of the royalty, or to use them in real situations, for example with violent prisoners, or if you were attacked by surprise in situations like ceremonies. It was considered rude to spilli blood in such ocassions so punch in the face was not an option

P.s.- I meant to write this earlier, but I think I heard some fingers or wrists snapping a little bit against 2 uke! Both uke grabbed Tori’s hands and nage waza. My fingers and wrist cracks too occasionally but that sounded brutal!! Love it! I’m sure hands or fingers aren’t broken, but yeah I heard it! A brilliant demonstration of an art that deserves a lot more credit! Domo arigato gozaimasu!🙏🏼👍

I love the way the 'attackers' waltz up to him and attack. 😅

I deeply now deeply respect the traditional roots of aikido. Daito ryu is, was and always shall be a classical koryu art. Grace, and beauty..🙏🏼👍

There comes a time for things to change. These techniques were performed masterfully.... against the most ludicrous attacks I've ever seen. Why train against attacks that you will never, EVER encounter?

This looks to me a lot like Aikido. Some movements are more strict and there is often this "end cut", which the tori does to indicate a "final blow", but other than that I could not distinguish it from Aikido. Can you pleas point me to what the real differences are? :)
