SPARK - Concept, Impact & Possibilities

In this video, I talk about SPARK—School Programmes in Articulation, Resilience & Kindness—a powerful initiative of the Government of Meghalaya, led by Education Department under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). Launched in 2024, SPARK has already impacted over 5,000 students across 25 schools in 12 districts, with 73% of participants being girls—a powerful indicator of the programme’s role in promoting confidence and voice among young women across the state.

The programme’s outcomes are striking. Teachers reported:
• A sharp rise in public speaking and classroom participation
• A significant shift in student confidence, posture, and presence
• 86% of students showed marked improvement in eye contact and audience engagement
• 9 out of 10 students developed interest in STEM subjects and chose kindness in difficult situations
