My younger cousin has this phobia. When he was young, he used to be horrified at the thought of being alone, the the point where he would break things in the house just to cause noise so that it wasn't silent, further reminding him that he was alone. He couldn't even sleep in his own room alone.

One day though, he suddenly seemed to be at least slightly more okay with being alone, which confused my entire family. That was, until my aunt told us that she'd heard him talking to someone in the other room, even though he had no one with him. He was about 7-8 at this time.

When we asked him about it, he told us that he was talking to a girl with long brown hair named Renne. He said that Renne always kept him company, no matter what, and he felt safe with her. Although Renne was probably just an imaginary friend, he was very much attatched to her, and I'm grateful to this 'Renne' for taking care of him.

As someone with autophobia I can agree that this is something hard to go through, especially if you developed this as a child and had both parent working full time jobs, no friends, and an only child. Your never gonna know what someone is going through, and if their not talking to anyone and you need someone to talk to, don’t go looking for your friends, go speak to them. It might just be the antidote for their bad day.

I have that phobia and I’m so happy that someone finally raised some awareness for this phobia because if my friends ask me what phobia I have and I say auto phobia, they will be confused about what phobia that is or the will think it’s a phobia to do with cars
