Gas turbines use compressor bleed valves to protect the axial compressor from surging during startup and shutdown.
The bleed valve moves between open and closed positions based on turbine start up and shutdown process condition. During start up and up to generator breaker closing bleed valve remains open. It closes with close signal of generator breaker close. For some older machines it close as machine reaches FSNL.
Limit switches: Each valve has one "valve open" and one "valve closed" limit switch. 33 CB
Dedicated solenoid: Each valve has a dedicated solenoid 20 CB
