I got my 70 year old father gaming with me about 3 years back, and this genre was a great low difficulty, low complexity entry point for teaching a non gamer. We game once a week since, and have beaten such titles as Inside, Link's Awakening, Wolf Among Us and Spiritfarer. Currently tackling Children of Morta. Wouldn't have been possible without our early Turtles in Time and Aliens vs Predator tutorials!

I’m glad Fight n Rage is on your list. This bad boy is balls to the walls difficult but a boat load of fun. It’s a huge grind to get the different endings and unlockables. Don’t expect a cake walk because the enemies will certainly make an unforgiving punching bag out of you.

SO glad you gave Double Dragon Neon some love! I have loved and been defending it since it originally came out on the PS3. Also, I am still waiting on my Collector's Edition physical for the Switch to arrive from LRG....its been a good year now since I preordered it.

Really glad you made this. I've wanted to watch a top ten BeatEmUps list for a while.

SOR4 is incredible, well-deserved at number 1; DLC makes it exponentially better, and it was already perfect. River City Girls is fantastic too, haven't finished it yet but I absolutely loved it till I stopped; got a little tough but it never felt unfair. Scott Pilgrim was just ridiculously difficult to me - loved the movie and the story, but the game just didn't feel responsive to me at all. Double Dragon Neon is fun, but the second to last boss really feels impossible to beat without a co-op, so I quit out of frustration.

This video definitely reminded me to get into The Takeover, though. Bought it months ago but haven't played it yet. I really, really need TMNT Shredder's Revenge to drop like yesterday.

Tops favs are definitely the TMNT games, Streets of Rage 4, Double Dragon Neon, Final Vendetta, The Takedown, etc. I love beat ‘em ups! 🤘🤘

Nice list. I've definitely enjoyed playing Young Souls. Also, Dawn of the Monsters surprised me with how much it drew me in for "one more level." I actually enjoy both of those more than the "classics" like Streets of Rage (which I had trouble sticking with). Maybe I just need a more story driven beat 'em up to keep me coming back. Either way, appreciate the list! Keep up the awesome work.

A pretty good video. I own most of these games and I can attest: these games are excellent. However, I am surprised that Mayhem Brawler didn't make the list.

Have had lots of fun playing Streets of Rage 4. My sons favourite is 99Vidas and of course I have to meantion Bud Spencer & Terence Hill - Slaps and Beans, that game is awesome. I wonder when the follow up will be released.

Great list Alex! Not related to the sad real world situation at all but Mother Russia Bleeds published by Devolver Digital is one of my first Beat'Em Up on my Switch and its a good one. Brutal and dark, but a very good story at the end. Also, never played Mayhem Brawler but I am curious about it...
And finally, can't wait for Turtles!
