Edit: there's so much foreshadowing of her death that it HURTS. When squirrelflight becomes the temporary leader, she makes her deputy Lionblaze. She says to bristlefrost ( i think in this time) " I know you have a very bright future ahead" she becomes a light in the mist. What also hurts is that she was only twenty moons. When she became a warrior she suddenly had to grow up in just a few moons, let go of her dreams. And reading a Vision of Shadows when she was born and a kit is so sad when you know what happens. She was seen to clearly be VERY close to Ivypool and she was a lively kit. Always speaking up and exploring.
I doubt I'll ever get over her death. I'm reading The Broken Code again so I'll add all the foreshadowing that i catch, if i remember
Oh also her death was meant to mirror her saving Rootspring. It feels horrible to realize that her future was planned out (by the writing team i mean) and we had no Clue. Of course we knew she was a character in a book, but we assumed that she would live. That the saving Rootspring was the start of her journey, not the start and the end.
Sigh, edit again: this isn't a foreshadowing case, succeeding that i wish they would do. So Bristlefrost way the one who suggested thanking starclan out loud, so that starclan would come back. Now, keep in mind they might be doing this still and i just didn't realize. But assuming they didn't, i think it would be awesome if they continued saying it out loud in honor of Bristlefrost. Like maybe an app over day asks, " why do we say it out loud? Wouldn't it be better to be quiet?" And the mentor answers' "we do it in honor of a very brave warrior who sacrificed herself for all the clans, including Starclan and the dark forest." Maybe that's just me, but i think it would be adorable.

Edit 6 billion: I just read the thingy for Ivypool's Heart, and it is heartbreaking.

"It’s been many moons since Ivypool lost her daughter, Bristlefrost, to the Dark Forest, yet Ivypool can’t bear to move on. Even being named Deputy of ThunderClan feels meaningless in her grief."

This is torture

When Bristlefrost died, Rootspring tried to jump in and save her, knowing that he might die. He didn't care about not coming back alive, he just wanted to at least die with her. He didn't feel like life without her was worth living, Even in starclan.

In Book 4 ( I think, I just read it so I should be right) page 270 of the broken code, sunrise ( one of the sisters) tells Rootspring, " hold onto Bristlefrost. It's clear you love her and she loves you, "
When I read that, my heart literally became powder it broke so much. He tried to, but he didn't know how badly he needed her until it was to late. When he was faced with her death, he couldn't handle it. I think he felt like he failed. He didn't hold onto her and he lost her because of it. A lot of people didn't want her coming back, but honestly, I can't handle how much pain her death brought. Ivypool's Heart will probably be the authors trying to help us get over it ( and suffer a bit more) but I'm not sure I can if she doesn't come back. And I know she probably won't, but it still aches and burns knowing how extreme and painful the loss of her affected Rootspring, ivypool, Fernsong, and her siblings. But they'll never get her back. They'll have to live so, so many moons, in starclan AND their clans without ever hearing her voice, seeing her eyes, or feeling her fur against theirs

I think I have to meant edits, but whatever: so uh I just read something for Bristlefrost by the warriors app, and I have two lines to share: "It was that same unwavering courage and determination to protect her family that led her to the battle that not only claimed her life,  but her entire existence" gonna sob internally. Now line two "But in the end, it was the memory of his love that comforted her as she slipped away into darkness. In that final moment, the life they could have had together, the one that had been lost to them, became real, and the memory of things that had never happened chased away the cold and filled her with only warmth and love"
I know there's so much written already, but I think this is just my spot to rant about Bristlefrost. Anyway, those two lines hurt my soul, actually everything here does.
Alright, I'm on ALITM, wish me luck! Already preparing years because tree and Ivypool just said goodbye to Bristlefrost basically but they didn't wanna actually think it was the last time they'd see each other. Also Ivypool and Bristlefrost are such a cute mother daughter relationship. Into this Bristlefrost, "you are so, so brave, " and then as she left she said, "take care, my dear daughter."

Pain.. I read it, it's over. Rootspring literally just thought randomly before in battle, "i can't bare to lose her, " or something like that and decided he would join her clan and then his stinky mother stopped him from saving her.
I guess this is the end of this comment unless something happens in ASC

Help i can't handle how upset Rootspring is. In any or whatever the second book is sunbeam and nightheart go in a quest with a few others to find catmint and Rootspring is on it. He tells them about how he's glad the changes to the code were made, but he wishes they were made sooner so that Bristlefrost and him could have spent those last few moments together. Instead, he thinks she will never know he chose her over his clan. But the thing is, she does know, or at least that's what i think. She has this memories as she died that took over her thoughts on her dying moments. As she died, she thought that she had spent a life with Rootspring, that she had gotten to be with him. And those feelings are the ones that Rootspring doesn't know she felt. So all he can think is that he failed her and she died thinking he chose his clan over her

I expect this is the end of the edits, so Ill add one more thing here, just to try and end it on a happy(kinda) note
While Bristlefrost will never come back Ave her existence is destroyed, we know she died happy. All the terrors, fear and probably pain she felt vanished. As she died, she didn't know fur sure what was real and what wasn't. But she seeked comfort so she accepted that those thoughts were real. Rootspring and ivypool know she's gone forever and will have to live with that. But at least, in her mind, she did have that little time left with Rootspring, even if Rootspring will never know. Even if he lives feeling separated from the love of his life, never to 'feel her gentle mew, look into her beautiful eyes, or feel her fur by their side'
We at least know that she died feeling her life was complete, that she didn't lose it to ashfur, that she stayed by Rootspring's side and always will, through every nest and every den, they'll be together❤
