It’s hard to find a good, honest, reliable mechanic. He seems like a honest one for this

Thank you guys for helping her get her money back. This is absolutely scary.

My first car was from a dealership that had a goat walking around the lot. Got a jeep for 5k. Took it back the next day because it would shake at high speeds. They Didn't want to give me my money back so I called the sheriff. Sheriff instantly recognized the vehicle. The last owner lost control and drove it into a lake, was fully submerged. They gave me fake car fax report. The sheriff walked with the title and car fax report and got my money back for me. While handing me the cash I said thank you. he responded "don't buy cars from dealerships with goats walking around."

This is the kind of real journalism I remember from years ago. Stay real and keep it up, people notice.

A trustworthy mechanic is a guardian angel.

Here's a tip. Turn the key to the ON position, but don't start the engine. The check engine light should be on. If it isn't, there's likely a problem and you shouldn't buy it.

If you don't know enough about cars, get it inspected by a mechanic you trust first. If they don't want to allow that, just walk away.

It's hard to find a good, honest mechanic. It's impossible to find a good, honest used car salesman.

I’m glad this young lady was able to get her money back, if the camera crew was not there then she wouldn’t not been able to get her money back!

The fact that they took it back so quickly is not a sign of doing the right thing but rather, a sign they were scared that they got caught. They need to be reported to state attorneys office.

Good man, anyone pulling a scam like this should be ashamed of themselves.
As an automotive technician, you never should take advantage of a person who doesn't know any better. Always be honest with people it will pay off major dividends later in your career.

Kudos to the used car dealer for making it right. Always check for error codes with a scanner when buying a used car.

As a person who wheels and deals in used vehicles, i will never stop seeing these scams. But the tape over the light is almost the oldest trick in the book. Glad she got her money back.

Doh! That walk-away was cold, dude! But also funny, and she got a laugh out of bad situation that CBS46 Atlanta made good. As another commenter already stated, thank you guys for helping her get her money back, and I wish much success to mechanic who sleuthed this out. And thanks for sharing some good news!
